Located 80 km northeast of the center of Erdenekhairkhan soum and 110 km from the provincial center, the lake is surrounded by sand dunes and sandy ridges to the north, and by marshy slopes and the majestic Tovkhos mountain to the south. The lake has a depth of 48 meters, stretches approximately 30 km in length, and spans 5-10 km in width. It is home to two species of fish, Omul and Feld. At the center of the lake, two islands named Ikh and Baga Avgash rise to an altitude of 2,600 meters above sea level.

The lake attracts 13 species of migratory birds. In addition, a unique red flower, known locally as shunkh, blooms on the water, adding to its picturesque beauty.

This July, the grand Nomadic Culture Festival is planned to take place on the lake’s shores. The lake, set amidst the stunning blend of desert and mountainous landscapes, is home to four large tourist camps. It has become one of the main hubs for tourism in Zavkhan province.
