Deluun Boldog, the Birthplace of Genghis Khan
In 1962, a statue of Genghis Khan was erected at Deluun Boldog to commemorate his 800th birthday. This site is believed to be the birthplace of the great Khan, located near what is today Dadal soum, a picturesque wooded area in the northwest Khentii region. The area features scenic trails, lakes, and monuments where visitors can learn about the legacy of this fierce warrior and visionary leader, who is still revered today.
Dadal soum once housed one of the three major Lamaist temples dedicated to Genghis Khan, but it was destroyed during the 1930s. Today, stone monuments to the Khan stand amidst the natural beauty of the Mongolian countryside.
