BAYANZURKH DEER STONE COMPLEX
Bayanzurkh deer stone complex

In the Möst soum of Khovd Province, along the path descending into the Bodonchi Gorge, there is a stone monument considered the largest of its kind in the western part of Mongolia, known as the Bayanzurkh Deer Stone.
This site contains about 30 large and small deer stones, cairns, and burial mounds. The depictions of deer are relatively intricate, and alongside them, there are five-pointed geometric shapes, ritual knives, and other weapons. In addition to these depictions, the stones feature images related to the daily life of ancient people, stylized representations of deer, and a wide variety of animals, including snow leopards and wolves.
There are also many symbols and figures that historians have been unable to fully interpret. Among the most interesting depictions is the five-pointed geometric shape. In addition to these, the stones also portray scenes related to the ancient people’s way of life, model depictions of deer, and a variety of animals, including snow leopards and wolves.
