CHOIRIIN BOGD MOUNTAIN
Choiriin Bogd mountain
Mongolia. This sacred mountain was placed under local protection in 1997, and on January 20, 2011, the State Great Khural of Mongolia issued Resolution No. 4, designating it as a nationally protected area to preserve ecological balance, maintain its natural state, and promote ecotourism.
In the vicinity of Choiryn Bogd Mountain, there are many historical and cultural sites, including various petroglyphs, the ruins of Zuun Janjin Choir Monastery, the Dagvasundel Buddha statue, the White Tara statue, the Wish Stone, the Children’s Ovoo, a rock with an image of a sword, the remains of an ancient Chinese telegraph station, and the memorial for Dugar Meeren.
Currently, over 200 argali sheep have settled on this mountain. The area is rich in unique rock formations, with the Uulzvariin River flowing along the northern side, providing water for both people and animals. The mountain is home to rare plants and a variety of wildlife, including argali, ibex, wolves, foxes, hares, golden eagles, and saker falcons.
